SDVFD&RS Celebrates 74th Anniversary

The members and guests of the Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad and the Auxiliary celebrated their 74th Anniversary and Installation of Officers on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Rocky Woodburn was the Master of Ceremony for the event. Following a delicious meal catered by Rita B Catering, the program commenced.

Throwback Thursday: Historic St. Mary's Hotel Fire Rocks Leonardtown

For this Throwback Thursday, we’re taking it back to a historic fire that destroyed a landmark in the Leonardtown community!
On June 8, 1956, the St. Mary’s Hotel, a very popular destination for lodging in Leonardtown, Md. erupted in flames just before 4am! Motor Vehicle Accident in Callaway

On March 15th, at 12:24 PM, the Second District Volunteers responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the Beer Cave in Callaway. Units arrived at 12:27 PM, to find a single passenger car had collided with an awning pole, causing moderate damage to the vehicle's front end and minor damage to the awning. Brush Fire in Leonardtown

On March 9, at 3:05 PM, units from Company 6 responded for the large brush fire dispatch n Leonardtown. While enroute, Chief 1A advised there was approximately 2 acres on fire in the woods and that it had spread to a nearby residence. Early Morning Chimney Fire in Drayden

At 1:06 AM on March 8, units from Second District, along with units from Bay District, NDW, Leonardtown, and Seventh District, responded for the Structure Fire - Residential in Drayden. E-61 and Chief 6 arrived simultaneously to find nothing evident from all sides of the home. Vehicle Accident On Medley's Neck Rd Near Chingville Rd

On February 26 around 3:13 PM, units from Company 6 were dispatched to Medleys Neck Rd and Watson Lane for the motor vehicle Accident. A vehicle had reportedly rear ended a school bus with no reported injuries on the bus and unknown injuries in the car.
