The members and guests of the Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad and the Auxiliary celebrated their 74th Anniversary and Installation of Officers on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Rocky Woodburn was the Master of Ceremony for the event. Following a delicious meal catered by Rita B Catering, the program commenced.
Joe Gould, Past President of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen’s Association swore in the Executive and Operational Officers. The Executive Officers taking the oath were President Eddie Stauffer, Vice President Mike Roberts, Secretary Dawn Stauffer, Treasurer Mike Scrivener, Chief Ben Windsor, and Administrative Secretary Cindy Bowes. Board of Directors sworn in are President Eddie Stauffer, Vice President Mike Roberts, Secretary Dawn Stauffer, Treasurer Mike Scrivener, Chief Ben Windsor, BOD Members Carol Boehm, Dan Browne, Kim Collins, Scott Raley, Jay Rodgers, Joe Scrivener, Joe Slade, Robert Springer, Brian Stauffer, and Dylan Walker. Operational Officers installed for 2025 are Chief Ben Windsor, Assistant EMS Chief Kim Collins, Assistant Fire Chief Mike Stroud, Deputy Fire Chief Ronnie Alvey. EMS Captains are John Manion and Molly Manion. EMS Lieutenants are Peggy Thompson, Kaitlyn Vollmer, and Jeff Hall. Fire Captains are Paul McNeel and Brian Stauffer, and Fire Lieutenants are Tyler Frederick, Ricky Poston and Rob Dent. Staff Officers installed included Safety Officers Marvin Jones and Scott Raley, Public Information Officer Mike Roberts, Water Supply Officer Dylan Walker, and Fire Prevention Officer Heather Stroud. Installed as Engineers are Lyn Henderson, Francis Bean, Robert Lynch, Adam Bodnar, Wade Gahl, John Guy, Joe Held, Cody Henderson, Daniel Henderson, and Dylan Walker.
Honorary Membership was bestowed upon former members Steve Wendling and Michelle Dahlberg.
Mrs. Becky Wathen, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firefighters Association swore in the Auxiliary Officers. Auxiliary Officers installed are President George Starks, Vice President Ray Carter, Treasurer Nancy Starks, Recording Secretary Sherry Pickeral, and Historian Agnes Burch.
St. Mary's County Commissioner Eric Colvin and State of Maryland Delegate Todd Morgan attended and presented words and certificates of commendation honoring Robert Lynch for 65 Years of Service.
Commissioner Colvin and Delegate Morgan also honored Past Chief Lyn Henderson for 50 Years of Service.
Another highlight of the evening occurred when Auxiliary President George Starks presented President Stauffer and Chief Windsor a check for $35,000.00.
