I happened by your site when researching links for my part-time job with RaterLabs, now Appen, so I saved the link to come back and sign your guest book.
Love all your upcoming events and I sure wish I lived close enough to drop by for the Chicken Dinner! I'll have to find out if any of our local Fire & Rescue Squads do this too!

What a fine bunch of officers for the coming year. The department is in good hands. I remember when many were just babies. Boy I'm old.
Wish I knew about your raffle cause I feel lucky. Past Chief Blair Swann save me a few next time. I'm good for the money. LOL
Good luck in your search for volunteers!
You guys are the best!!!

On behalf of my husband and I, thank you for being Puggy's friends in life and death. You stood by him through the best and worse times.
As I watched the Second District Fire Dept and Rescue Squad in action, before and after, the funeral of Robert "Puggy" Russell, I was so touched by the dedication and compassion shown to Puggy, his dear wife, Mary, the extended family, friends and colleagues. The tributes carried out for Puggy by the Fire and Rescue personell were performed in a manner fit for the very special person he was. God Bless each one of you.

Just read your post of Puggy Russell. When I joined the 2nd District VFD in 1971 I was a young boy and between Chief Russell & Chief G. Adams they helped me grow into the person I am today. Have many wonderful memories with Puggy and all the guys & girls. I will miss your funny smile. Peace to Mary & the family.
On behalf of all the members of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department I would like to offer our deepest condolences on the loss of one of the icons of your department Robert (Puggy) Russell. Past Chief Russell will go down in the history of your department as one of the most respected firefighters in the county and the state. I have know Puggy for my entire 50 years in our department and when I first joined as a junior member Puggy was your Chief and what a Chief he was. He will be remembered always by many in the county who have lost a true dedicated firefighter. May he rest in peace surrounded by his brothers and sisters of the fire service whom he joins in heaven.

On behalf of the Litton family I want to sincerely thank the members of Valley Rescue Squad who responded very quickly this a.m. to a call for assistance at my parents' home in Meadowview. My parents are very elderly, the housekeeper/caregiver was off today, I live four hours away. My Dad had fallen a few days ago and hurt his ring finger. The finger had become very swollen and the ring was near a point of compromising circulation. Valley Rescue had a special device that quickly and easily removed the ring without further trauma. While there, they were also kind enough to assess my mother's eye, which had become acutely red & inflamed over the weekend.
I spoke with both members of the squad on site, and found them to be personable & highly knowledgeable.
We are most blessed to have these skilled professionals assisting our loved ones in this community.
Our most sincere thanks to Valley Rescue Squad from the Litton family.
On March 14th 2015 at approx. 2120 you guy responded to a MAV (truck vs pole) that there was my brother and soon to be wife. I was very pleased with your response and the swiftness of the execration. I stopped there today and spoke with Brian who was pleased to know that they are both very well with no injuries other than some bumps and burses. As a fellow firefight from Howard Co. MD (West Friendship VFD) it hits really close to home when it ends up being your family who needs help. So thanks again for the outstanding job.

Unfortunately in our first year plus as new residents in Piney Point the SDVFDRS had been to our house 2 times. Eventually one of these responses resulted in the death of my Mother approximately one week later. Fortunately, the other response turned out to be a minor incident of a one year old niece having trouble breathing. She was fine. Thanks to everyone and hopefully we will not be calling for your services anytime soon!! Everyone was extremely professional. Keep up the great work.

I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you , for
Your hard work an dedication each and every day..
A Chief a damn fine story about the great tradition of the guys and gals in the valley. So many things you talked about brough back fond memories for not only myself but I would say that any old timer that read your story. You are to young to remember when we didn't even have scanners and the house siren was all we had for notification of a call. You didn't know what you had until you got to the firehouse. I remember many times you would be somewhere and you would ask yourself is that the siren blowing. LOL I know that you have a great bunch of old timers over there and I bet they are as proud of your story as I was.
Pass that tradition on to the youngsters cause if you don't they will never know just what they missed. I know that you will.

Congrats on your new Fire Truck... Looks great... One more thing that is real important to me due to I lost a friend after he parked his car in a garrage and for got to turn the engine off... He died from CARBON MONXIDE Poisioning... PLEASE put carbon Monoxide Dectors in each and every Place that people will have access to for paper work or sleep... Also please spread the word through the other Fire Depts and Rescue Squads... It may save a members life and that members life may be your's...
Thanks a lot,,,
