Crews Respond to Serious Accident on Point Lookout Road

On July 25 at approximately 09:24, units from Company 6 and Company 1 responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision reported serious with subjects trapped and the vehicle possibly on fire on Point Lookout Road in the vicinity of Winters Lane. Initial units arriving advised there was a sedan vs box truck with the passenger in the sedan heavily trapped. Maryland State Police Trooper 7 was requested for patient transport. Crews from Squad 6 and Squad 1 worked to free the patient, who was extricated in under 30 minutes and flown to an area trauma center for treatment. The damage to the box truck caused the vehicle to become unstable and require stabilization. Squad 7 was dispatched to complete this task. The box truck also began leaking fuel from the saddle tank on the driver's side. HazMat 18 was requested to assist with the hazardous condition. The operator of the box truck signed a patient refusal. Engine 91 handled the landing zone for Trooper 7. Chief 3 held Command. Chief 9B was the Extrication Group Supervisor.
