On July 2nd, 2024 at approximately 2:30 PM, the SDVFD&RS was alerted for the report of traumatic injuries possible one individual in the water in the area of 18300 River Road in Tall Timbers. Ambulance 67 and Squad 6 responded to the call within minutes. Ambulance 67 arrived on location to find an injured female patient, conscious and alert in the water. Utilizing their rescue skills and some ingenuity, the crews quickly deployed a stokes basket, Z rig, and a roof ladder to improvise a safe and efficient “lift slide” to remove the injured patient from the water.
Due to the type and extent of injuries, it was decided to medivac the patient to a trauma center. The patient was transported to Piney Point Elementary School, where an LZ was established for MSP Trooper 7, which is turn transported the patient to Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, MD.
