The SDVFD&RS will be supporting the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad as they are collecting items for Disaster Relief for Southwestern VA, North Carolina, and Tennessee. They are collecting bottled water, non perishable food and manual can openers. Toiletries like toothbrushes and paste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, hair brushes and combs. Diapers, feminine products, Depends, baby wipes, first aid items. Baby items like bottles, formula and baby food. Pet food and cleaning supplies. tarps, flashlights and batteries. No clothes at this time.
Citizens who would like to join us for this effort may leave donated items in the vestibule area directly underneath the tower in the new station. The outer doors will be unlocked, so access is possible to this area 24/7
Anyone planning to donate, please have your donations at the station no later than the evening of Wednesday, October 9.
