Mark your calendars! The Second District VFD&RS will be hosting their 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Santa & Mrs. Claus and their elves will be there to light the tree at 6:30 PM. I even heard that the Grinch may show up. There will be lots of fun, games, giveaways, food and more. Open Air Burn Ban in Effect Throughout the State of Maryland

Dry, windy conditions have increased fire risk across the state and fueled ongoing wildfires

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is implementing a statewide ban on open air burning, effective today, November 1, in all Maryland counties.

Deputy Fire Chief Ronald (Ronnie) Alvey, October 23

The National Weather Service has issued a special Weather statement for our area.

Elevated fire conditions are expected due to dry conditions and
gusty winds. Relative humidity values around 20 to 30 percent are
expected along with sustained westerly winds of 10 to 15 mph and
gusts 20 to 25 mph. This will result in the rapid drying of fine
fuels.

Motor Vehicle Accident in Callaway Sends One to Trauma Center

On Saturday, September 14, at 11:05 the Second District Volunteers and St. Mary's County DES responded to the area of Point Lookout Road & Lily Lane for the reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. Chief 6B was in the area and arrived within a minute of dispatch and advised there was a single vehicle into the ditch and that there was a single patient for check up.
