Santa Run Schedule

Santa is coming to town and his mode of transportation will be on the back of a fire truck!
Throughout the holiday season, The Second District Fire Department & Rescue Squad will be making their way around with Santa, blowing the siren to announce his arrival! The community will have the chance to come out and get a glimpse of the jolly man himself and take part in the holiday cheer.

Mark your calendars! The Second District VFD&RS will be hosting their 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Santa & Mrs. Claus and their elves will be there to light the tree at 6:30 PM. I even heard that the Grinch may show up. There will be lots of fun, games, giveaways, food and more. Third Annual Halloween Boo Thru A Huge Success

One hundred plus cars Boo’d their way through the transformed fire bay as members promoted an evening full of Halloween fun and a little fright. Open Air Burn Ban in Effect Throughout the State of Maryland

Dry, windy conditions have increased fire risk across the state and fueled ongoing wildfires
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is implementing a statewide ban on open air burning, effective today, November 1, in all Maryland counties.

Special Weather Statement
Deputy Fire Chief Ronald (Ronnie) Alvey, October 23
The National Weather Service has issued a special Weather statement for our area.
Elevated fire conditions are expected due to dry conditions and gusty winds. Relative humidity values around 20 to 30 percent are expected along with sustained westerly winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts 20 to 25 mph. This will result in the rapid drying of fine fuels.

Second District VFD&RS to Support Mechanicsville Disaster Relief Collection

The SDVFD&RS will be supporting the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad as they are collecting items for Disaster Relief for Southwestern VA, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Motor Vehicle Accident in Callaway Sends One to Trauma Center

On Saturday, September 14, at 11:05 the Second District Volunteers and St. Mary's County DES responded to the area of Point Lookout Road & Lily Lane for the reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.
