Construction of the New Fire/EMS Station Has Started

And so, it has begun! The long-awaited start of our new Fire/EMS station has begun. Over seven years of planning and research by the dedicated New Building Committee precipitated the start of work. Endless meetings, public forums, hundreds of hours of conversations, emails, phone calls, budgeting, and planning.
On Monday, July 20, 2020, the initial excavation work at the site began.

SDVFD&RS Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Fire/EMS Station

On Friday, July 24, 2020, under the threat of rain, although a double rainbow appeared during the ceremony, the Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for their new Fire/EMS station. The new station will be located on Piney Point Road, directly adjacent to the existing station.

Outside Fire in Piney Point

Fire Captain Ben Windsor, March 23

On Friday, March 20, 2020 at 1328 hrs., the SDVFD&RS was alerted for an outside fire at 17558 Piney Point Road in Piney Point. The fire apparently started from a controlled burning in the area. Within minutes Brush 6 with Captain 6 (D. Walker), Tanker 63 with Chief 6A (Henderson), and Engine 61 with Captain 6A (Windsor) responded. On Sunday, 2-23-2020 at 0234 hrs., the SDVFD&RS, Bay District VFD, Lexington Park VRS, and SMC Advanced Life Support were dispatched for the report of a serious motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of 19475 Piney Point Road, Valley Lee, with subjects trapped.
