Golf Cart Raffle a Big Success

The winner of the yearlong Golf Cart Raffle was Mr. George Crooks of Mechanicsville, MD. When all was said and done, the efforts of the Financial Committee netted over $15,000.00 which will be used to help fund the new Fire/Emergency Medical Services station currently being constructed.

The Second District VFD&RS has been awarded a Federal Grant from the U.S. Office of Homeland Security “Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program” (AFG) in the amount of $172,285.71.

On August 13th at 1926 hrs., the SDVFD&RS was alerted to a serious motor vehicle accident at 20370 Flat Iron Road near Great Mills. Chief 6A (Henderson) arrived on the scene and established the Flat Iron Command, advising a single vehicle into a tree. Serious MVA on Piney Point Road, Callaway

On August 12, at 0605, the SDVFD&RS was alerted for a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles with subjects trapped at 20400 Piney Point Road at Take it Easy Ranch Road. Squad 6 responded with Chief 6A (Henderson) and 2. Chief 6A immediately asked for an additional engine for manpower. Construction of the New Fire/EMS Station Has Started

And so, it has begun! The long-awaited start of our new Fire/EMS station has begun. Over seven years of planning and research by the dedicated New Building Committee precipitated the start of work. Endless meetings, public forums, hundreds of hours of conversations, emails, phone calls, budgeting, and planning.

SDVFD&RS Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Fire/EMS Station

On Friday, July 24, 2020, under the threat of rain, although a double rainbow appeared during the ceremony, the Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for their new Fire/EMS station. The new station will be located on Piney Point Road, directly adjacent to the existing station.
