Working House Fire at McKay's Beach, Valley Lee

On April 3, 2021 at 0752 hrs., the Second District VFD&RS was alerted for a structural fire located at 18774 Mckay's Beach Rd. Valley Lee. Chief 6 (Henderson) arrived on the scene and advised St Mary's County Emergency Communications of a working fire, and established the McKay's Beach Road Command. The SDVFDRS was alerted for a structure fire on Flat Iron Road, Great Mills March 29, at 1038 am. Water Supply 6 (Swann) arrived on scene with a working structure fire. On March 10th, 2021, President of the SDVFDRS Auxillary, Ms. Robin Dove, on behalf of the Auxillary presented a check in the amount of $40,000 to Chief Lyn Henderson and President Eddie Stauffer.

Second District VFD&RS, Inc. Receives Federal Grant

Public Information Officer Michael Roberts, August 24

The Second District VFD&RS has been awarded a Federal Grant from the U.S. Office of Homeland Security “Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program” (AFG) in the amount of $172,285.71.

Serious MVA on Flat Iron Road, Great Mills

On August 13th at 1926 hrs., the SDVFD&RS was alerted to a serious motor vehicle accident at 20370 Flat Iron Road near Great Mills. Chief 6A (Henderson) arrived on the scene and established the Flat Iron Command, advising a single vehicle into a tree. On August 12, at 0605, the SDVFD&RS was alerted for a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles with subjects trapped at 20400 Piney Point Road at Take it Easy Ranch Road.
